Karting: An Accessible Sport That Requires the Right Equipment
Karting is one of the most accessible motorsports. But to fully enjoy each session and drive safely, it's important to be properly equipped from the start. Here is a complete list of essential equipment for beginners.
1. The Helmet
This is the most important piece of equipment. Choose an approved full-face helmet, designed specifically for karting or motorsport. It should fit snugly and not move on your head.
2. The Karting Suit
The suit protects your body in case of a fall or contact. It should be comfortable, breathable, and snug enough not to hinder your movements at the wheel.
3. Karting Gloves
Gloves are essential for grip and hand protection. They absorb steering wheel vibrations and prevent blisters during long sessions. Opt for gloves with silicone grip and reinforced seams, available in sizes XS to 2XL.
4. Karting Boots
Low-cut, flexible shoes, specific to karting, offer you a better feel for the pedals. Avoid thick shoes that reduce sensitivity.
5. The Balaclava
Worn under the helmet, the Nomex or cotton balaclava ensures hygiene and thermal comfort. It is often mandatory on tracks.
6. The Neck Brace (Nerveck)
This neck protector absorbs lateral impacts and reduces the risk of cervical injuries. Highly recommended for beginners.
